About Us

Over 35 years ago I started repairing bikes on a youth training scheme, working in many bike shops including Langsett cycles, Ozone, Freewheel and Freespirit (Meadowhall), and the rest is history. I'll have met many of you who've been riding for years in the past. Ever since then I have been riding and repairing bikes. I've tried my hand at every almost discipline of cycling including BMX, road time trials, cross country racing, downhill, and I have loved every minute. I still ride off road at least twice a week at the ripe old age of 50! 7 years ago, I had a bit of a lightbulb moment when I was repairing bikes that folks had bought elsewhere, but, were not going back for the regular service work required to keep their bikes in perfect condition. They were coming to me!

They wanted the good old fashioned personal service of a local bike shop like the ones I grew up hanging around at weekends as a kid.....Expert Bike Repair was born!

Folks kept saying I was mad in an age when smaller local bike shops were closing down on an almost daily basis. A local that passes with his dog every day, one of the original 'nay sayers', regularly shouts "still busy Mark. Good lad". His dog COOPER, gets a fuss every morning whilst I'm opening up. We've become part of the local community in Whiston, and further afield.

Since then, things have moved very quickly at EBR. We have our very own mountain bike race team, although one of our riders, Matt Kebbell, is also a BMX champion. We sponsor Sitwell CC road club, and we support many events and races in the local area including Peaty's Steel City Downhill. Our ethos is the personal experience in 'The biggest little bike shop' for miles.

Many of our customers are now regular riding buddies and have become more than customers, they are friends. We run regular off-road rides including annual charity rides involving many of our customers.

Service and repair work quickly moved on to 'are you going to sell bikes?'

Not in the original business plan, but due to the demand, we gave it a go despite having some big rival retailers in the same area. We are now stockists for GT, Bergamont, Saracen, Ridgeback, Tiger Cycles, Forme, Squish, Dawes, Claud Butler, Probike, Python, to name but a few of our

brands. We are also specialists in lightweight children's bikes. An area

we are now renowned for in South Yorkshire. We stock electric bikes and scooters. We repair prams, wheelchairs, scooters, and gymnasium spin bikes, and even an electric rickshaw! We have contracts with schools to service their mountain bike fleets, and we also service specialist bikes and trikes for a number of schools with students with different learning requirements. We've even had the odd wheel barrow in for builders working locally with a puncture! We have many strings to our bow. Please give us a call for a quote on any specialist requirements.

Then came the components ranges our customers required. We now stock everything from stabilisers, Disney bells and handlebar tassles, through to Hope, Brand-x, KS, Raceface, Shimano, SRAM, Magura, DMR, Burgtec, Kali, Charge, Kenda, Maxxis, Clarks and Magura. The list goes on and on. If we don't have it in stock, we can probably get it! We have even been called the 'Bike Shop Tardis, on more than one occasion due to our extensive range in such small shop, an accolade we thrive on!

If you choose Expert Bike Repair you will experience a friendly, one to one service coupled with our passion to give you the very best service available.

We offer a FREE collection and delivery service on all our repairs. (South Yorkshire) Many are carried out at your home, but for more extensive service work, we take your bike to our fully equipped workshop instore to carry out the work required. Your bike is fully insured throughout this period.

Please feel free to call and see us, you won't be disappointed....and the kettle is always on! And if we can do a quick repair while you wait, my fiancé runs a rather nice coffee/sandwich shop two doors up so you can grab a sarnie and a brew.

Hope to see you soon,

Mark
